The Aikido Association of Berlin-Brandenburg (Aikido-Verband Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. or AVBB) was founded in 1992 as Aikido-Verband Berlin. In the spring of 1999, we resolved to open our organization to clubs from the State of Brandenburg and extended our name accordingly. The AVBB now consists of seven clubs in the City-State of Berlin and three in the State of Brandenburg.

We are a member of the German Aikido Federation (Deutscher Aikido-Bund e.V. – DAB), the recognized representative for aikido in the German Sportbund (links in German). The DAB and its state chapters are non-profit organizations based on democratic federalist principles. All representatives commit their time on an honorary basis and receive no salary or private profits for their efforts. Our non-profit status and democratic structure entitle us to use public gyms at no cost to our organization. These factors allow us to offer our members inexpensive training opportunities throughout the country.

The DAB ensures high-quality aikido training with licensed instructors and national seminars for students and instructors. A uniform testing curriculum allows consistent evaluation of each individual student's progress.

Respect for our partners and a friendly atmosphere are especially important to us. We practice hard and in earnest, but enjoy our time on the mat and gladly welcome visitors.

A separate page lists our clubs' contact information.
